February Newsletter

Print

cirencester20camera20club20logo202A little overdue but I'm sure you'll agree better late than never.

Inside this months newsletter are some date changes for planned meetings, the all important results for Competitions C and D and a look forward into the 2012/13 Camera Club season...

Chairmans Update;

Here we are it's Mid February and we are almost two thirds of the way through our current season, where does the time go?

I am sure we are all looking forward to our impending move to Ingleside House, the 5th of March is just around the corner and this will mark the clubs return to the venue where it all started. In those far off days it was known as the Beeches Community Centre, the club had a meeting room and also a fully equip darkroom somewhere up many flights of stairs at the top of the house.

We have been in our current venue at the Bingham Hall for over 30 years and we thank them for their hospitality over this long period, however of late several problems have occurred which prompted our move, not the least among them was the constant difficulty with parking.

Since the last Newsletter the club has taken part in battles at Stroud and Tetbury, we came a creditable second in a three way battle with Cheltenham and Stroud,  and Tetbury just edged a win in our tussle with them.

The Practical Flash Night proved to be a popular success with the various stations providing an insight into the many aspects of photographic lighting, I happen to know of at least two members (no names no pack drill) who are now several pounds lighter in pocket as they felt compelled to go out and purchase a piece of equipment that was being demonstrated!

In closing could I thank Graham for his efforts with maintaining the club's Website, not only is it a source of information for you the membership but it is also providing valuable contact with the general public.  Several new members  have joined the club after looking us up on the Internet and only this week another two enquiries have been received. Thank you Graham you are doing a great job!

Keep the shutters clicking, see you Monday!

Syd.

WCPF Update;

Thinking of going for your CPAGB or DPAPG awards?

Head along to the WCPF/PAGB advisory day on 11th March 2012, for full ticket details please come and see me at any meeting.

Marlene.

Program Update;

I hope you have all been enjoying the season so far, if not I'd really like to know what you haven't enjoyed and why...

I'm busy working on next years program and already have a number of events confirmed along with one or two speakers. I'd be really gratefull if you could let me know if there is anything in particular you would like to see or do, it's quite a challenge to find new and interesting topics and meetings so any suggestions would be great...

As for the upcoming few meetings, you'll all be aware we move home in March and we kick off with Competition E Winter, it seems almost ironic that we should be in a warm room to look at some cold images...!! This is followed by a Practical Evening (currently unplanned so any requests are welcome), then in mid march we will be welcoming Damian Lovegood who will be showing us how he achieves his stunning porterature. The month finishes with a look at some images from the Surte Fotoklub.
