Welcome to the December News Letter, read on to find out what we've been doing during the month of November and more importantly what we will be doing during December.
This issue contains some important information regarding the 2012/13 Programme...
Chairman’s Update;
Where does the time go, Christmas just around the corner and it doesn't seem all that long ago that Kevin was chasing me for my contribution to the last newsletter and here I am writing number 3.
We are now approaching the half way stage in this seasons programme and I am sure you will agree with me that there has been something to interest everyone from that wonderful evening when we were treated to photo manipulation before the days of digital photography through to the evening where our Brains Trust team did their best to answer your photography questions and then on to the illuminating evening (Oh dear, please excuse the pun!) where flash photography took centre stage.
Our three competitions have been well supported and whilst some of you may not necessary agree with the judge’s comments I find it is always interesting to get another opinion. On the subject of judging have you ever thought what it is like to stand before a group of fellow photographers, many of whom you have never met before and talk for over an hour on the pros and cons of their pictures, it's not easy. How about a fun evening when some of us could have ago with each other’s pictures, what do you think?
Before I close, on your behalf I would like to thank every member of the committee for their sterling efforts in ensuring that our club meets with your expectations, their dedication has made my job as chairman that much easier. Don't forget any comments or suggestions that you care to make will be appreciated.
I would like to take this opportunity of wishing you all the very best for the coming season, may Santa visit you with a sack load of photographic goodies, well a lens dusting brush at the very least!
A Very Happy Christmas to you all.
Syd.

Battle News;
A reminder that our next battle is against Stroud and Cheltenham camera clubs. The battle will be hosted at Stroud on 19th January 2012; it would be great if a few of our members could make the trip to Stroud for the battle night.

WCPF Update;
I have rec’d the following email which may be of interest to some:
Good morning,
My husband & I have just opened a new Photography Gallery & Photography training school in the historic village of Lacock, Wiltshire.
Students who attend our courses really appreciate the facilities we have here – it is an idyllic location and we have a fully pc equipped training room which make for an ideal photography learning environment. In addition, our tutors are all professionals who are experts in their field and have a real flare for delivering photography training.
I would be much obliged if you would pass on our details to your camera club members. We will be very pleased to offer your members a 10% discount on any of our training courses. Check out our new course schedule for 2012:

Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any queries or would like more information.
Kind regards
Fiona
Many Thanks,
Marlene
Program Update;
After all of the Switching and Swapping that went on during November I’m looking forward to a slightly more settled month of December.
This month has already seen Competition C, the reason this newsletter is a week later than normal. Then on the 12th we have the DPIC Selection evening followed by a fun quiz and a few nibbles & Drinks on the 19th before we break up for Christmas.
Due to the way Christmas falls we have a 3 week break before our Christmas Lunch on January 9th 2012.
Our next normal club meeting is therefore January 16th which is the next in our series of Flash Based Practical Nights, I’ll be in touch with you nearer the time to confirm details but it should be a good one...
Have a great Christmas and New Year and I hope you get everything on your wish lists.
Kevin.
PS: I’ll be looking for suggestions for the Summer Programme and the start of the 2012/13 season once Christmas is out of the way, so if there’s anything in particular you want to learn about or do then let me know.
