Chairman’s Update;
Hello everyone,
A very warm welcome back to all our returning members and an especially warm welcome to new members that have joined us this season, the committee have put together a very full and varied programme to take us through until next April and my sincere personal thanks to all concerned for their efforts. Well here we are into September with the shorter autumn days and the leaves on the trees turning to their golden beauty, how many of you are out there capturing the season for possible entry into future club competitions?
The Camera Club has got off to a good start and we have already had our first competition, congratulations to all those who did well and don't be discouraged to those who didn't, just remember the judge’s comments however stated are just the opinion of one man, if you don't agree with them then don't worry it's your picture after all, and if you are happy then that’s really all that matters.
It was great to see Joan and Gordon back with us and sat in their usual front seats again, Gordon is now well on the road to recovery after traumatic health problems during our close season, we all wish him well in the coming months.
We had to abandon our entry for the Kingswood Salver this year as we just didn't get enough entries, never mind, for next year plans are afoot to take possible entries during a practical evening as we have done in the past and that should ensure that everyone get a chance to contribute.
Just remember it's your club, let us know what you think, and of your photographic likes and dislikes, we will do our best to accommodate your requests.
Happy shooting!
Syd.

As many of you will be aware we were unable to enter this years Kingswood Salver competition due to a lack of entries. We have however decided to keep the same subject, ‘Monochrome Body Parts’ in place ready for next years competition. Could you all please bear this subject in mind throughout the remainder of this season so we have plenty of images to select from next year.
Many thanks, Marlene.
Treasurer;
Thanks to everyone who has paid their subscriptions for this year.
A reminder to other members that these are now due, as per last year the fee is just £40.00.
Alun,
Program;
September saw us receive a talk from Tony Cooper describing the RPS L Qualification process and standards. I’m sure many of you will agree that despite a slow start the talk proved very interesting and entertaining. Following this talk we launched the first of our ‘2010/11 season projects’, this gives you the opportunity to put together your own panel of images ready for critique provided Colin Harrison from the RPS L Selection panel. Colin will be available on the members critique night scheduled for 20th Feb 2011 to review a selection of member’s images and offer his input with direct reference to the L Panel standards. I will put the finer details of what is required on the website over the next few weeks.
October sees a varied program starting with the WCPF Travelling Print Portfolio closely followed a talk on Managing Colour and Paper selection when printing your images. Monday 17th sees a slight change from the advertised program as this will now be a talk and demonstration on how to merge images. The final 2 meetings of the month include a review of the popular London Salon Images and Competition B, Buildings & Monuments.
Over the next few months I’d like to start thinking about next seasons program, If at all possible I’d like to have next September - December in place before we break up in May. If you have any comments or suggestions for either this year’s or early next year’s program please feel free to let me know.
Hope you enjoy the month ahead, Kevin
