cirencester20camera20club20logo202Cirencester Camera Club Newsletter #01

Welcome to this, the first edition of the CCC Newsletter, the best place to find out what's going on at your camera club.

We are planning on producing a monthly edition of the newsletter to keep you up to date with the entire goings on at the club.

The newsletter will include a roundup of the past months events from the chairman, provide a competition update including the winners as well the upcoming subjects and closing dates, information about our performances in the interclub battles, updates from the WCPF and RPS, club notices and announcements and of course the all important events planned for our club meetings in the coming months.

Read on for loads more info about the season ahead...

Chairman's Welcome;

Hello to all members,

Here we are in the middle of summer but the close season so to speak with regard to Camera Club Meetings., I expect that you are all exercising the shutters on your cameras and stockpiling the images that you will put in for next seasons competitions.

It certainly has not been an idle time for the hard working members of the committee and I must congratulate and thank them on your behalf for the efforts they are making to ensure that next seasons meetings are full of interest and enjoyment for all.

As you know I am new to the role of club chairman and I must confess to a degree of apprehension in taking over from Mike who in his term of office proved to be an excellent leader. We are indebted to him for bringing the club through what could possibly be described a difficult transition period, I only hope that I can live up to the example that he has set.

I must also thank Graham for the Stirling work he has both done and is continuing to do on the club website, don't forget to log into it on a regular basis as it will not only provide you with useful hints and tips but perhaps more importantly it will keep you informed about what YOUR club is doing.

In closing there are two important things I would like to do; again on your behalf, the first one is to wish our Vice President Gordon a speedy recovery back to full health after the setback that he experienced earlier in the year, and secondly to wish our President May very many congratulations and good wishes on reaching her 90th birthday.

Keep the shutters clicking, I look forward to seeing you all again in September.

Syd Mathews.

Competition Secretary;

The set subjects, entry dates and competition nights can all be found on the Calendar of events along with plenty of guidance about image submission on the Competitions Page.

Competition entries are tending to be strong on projected images but less so on prints, so be sure to enter your quota of prints as well to maximise your chances of success in the judging, as well as to make for a more rounded competition night.

Meanwhile all best wishes for creative photography over the summer to build up a good range of images for next season.

Peter Landless

WCPF & RPS;

Currently there are 2 pieces of news from the WCPF.

WCPF Members Digitally Projected Image Exhibition 2011

The first ever WCPF Members Projected Image Exhibition (MPIX) will be held on Sunday 4th September at the Corn Exchange, Market Street, Exeter EX1 1BW.
This is an exciting new venture for the WCPF, and will offer a great showcase for Projected Image work from individual club members in our federation.
All submitted images will be projected, with marks awarded, and the winners in each of the three sections will be announced during the day.
This year a new section for “Creative” photography has been added, and we are expecting a good number of thought-provoking Projected Images to be submitted.
A member of the Selection panel will be present, to comment on the top images and to present the awards.
Closing date for entries 16th July 2011
There are 3 sections: Open, Nature and Creative.
You can enter up to 12 Projected Images (Maximum of 4 in any class)

The Kingswood Salver

WCPF Interclub Print Panel Competition
The WCPF Interclub Print Panel Competition will be held on Saturday 12 November 2011 at the Village Hall, Clyst St Mary, nr Exeter EX5 1BG.
Closing date Sunday 30 October 2011
Entry is five prints - colour, mono, or a mixture of both, and must be from five different photographers.
The club would like a selection of images from members at the beginning of next season.
We will need a panel of 5 images; the chosen subject is Human Body Parts and will displayed as mono prints.
If you could contribute to this please leave them as digital images for the time being and the selected images can be printed and mounted to form a cohesive panel.
The Award Winning Pictures for the Members Print Exhibition can be viewed on the following link:

Club Notices;

As you are aware, we have been looking into finding new premises for the 2011/12 season.

As yet we have been unsuccessful and will begin the season at The Bingham Hall while the search continues.

Program Secretary;

I have had a very busy summer putting together a varied selection of events for the coming season. I don't want to give too much away but I have put together a truly interactive program this season which will work best if we have full participation from our members.

Where possible I have avoided putting blocks of meetings together where we are viewing images and tried to find an even spread of speakers, images to view, practical nights and of course the competitions.

This season will have a focus on members sharing experiences with several members critique nights where our own work can be viewed by the club members, ask the expert nights where a panel of our more experienced members will be on hand to answer your photographic concerns and a number of tasks for members to get involved in.

Keep an eye on the Calendar of Events over the next few weeks as I will be updating the program in the build up to the first meeting on September 5th.

As normal if you have any concerns or suggestions contact me This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and I'll do what I can to help.

Hope you enjoyed the first newsletter, till September, keep clicking...
